Yinan Zhao | GRAND PRIZE | Violin | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Yinan Zhao is a second-year graduate student in the Orchestral Instruments Department of the Central Conservatory of Music, studying under the guidance of Professor Ti Zhang. 

He began to learn violin from his mother at the age of four and later was taught by Professor Da Su in 2008. In 2011, he was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music Middle School, studying under the guidance of Professor Wei Xue and Professor Jia Zhang. He has studied under Professor Ti Zhang since 2016.

In 2016, he participated in Mozarteum Summer Academy Master Class. He won the second prize in the 4th Chamber Music Competition of the Central Conservatory of Music and Pearl River · Caesar Scholarship Competition in 2019. While in school, he was admitted to Seiji Ozawa Ongaku-juku. In 2021, he was recommended to be a graduate student of the Central Conservatory of Music.

Nicholas Yoo | 1st Prize | Violin | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Nicholas Yoo is a violinist studying with Elizabeth Chang in the Pre-College Division at the Juilliard School. Recently named a Merit winner of the National YoungArts Competition, he is also the first prize winner of numerous music competitions such as the MTNA NJ Senior String Competition, DePaul Concerto Festival for Young Musicians, Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition, Camerata Artists International Competition, and the Queensboro Symphony Concerto Competition. Nicholas has been invited to perform at Carnegie Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, and the Royal Albert Hall.

He has participated in masterclasses with acclaimed violinists and pedagogues such as Daniel Phillips, Ani Kavafian, Phillip Setzer, Bayla Keyes, Masao Kawasaki, and Bruno Eicher. Nicholas has spent his summers at the Green Mountain Chamber Music Festival in Vermont and the Brancaleoni International Music Festival in Italy. Last summer, he served as the concertmaster of the National Youth Orchestra 2 (NYO2), performing at the New World Center and Carnegie Hall.  

He debuted in 2015 with the Queensboro Symphony Orchestra and recently performed as a soloist with the Oistrakh Symphony in Chicago, Illinois under the baton of Maestro Mina Zikri. 

As an avid chamber musician, he has participated in the New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Program and recently won 2nd Prize at the 2023 Coltman Chamber Music Competition with his piano trio. Orchestrally, he was selected as concertmaster of the Pre-College String Ensemble and the Pre-College Symphony.

This summer, he will be joining the National Youth Orchestra of the United States (NYO-USA) for its 10th anniversary season, as the ensemble tours North America with Sir Andrew Davis and violinists Hilary Hahn and Gil Shaham.

Besides music, he enjoys creative writing, hanging out with friends, and trying out new cuisines from different cultures while traveling across the world.

Henry Auxenfans | 1st Prize | Violin | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Henry Auxenfans, 15-year-old violinist, has been featured on NPR’s From the Top show 419 and WFMT 98.7’s Introductions multiple times. At age 10, he had his Carnegie Weill Hall debut, then performed there again at age 14. As a soloist, he has performed with the United States Marine Chamber Orchestra in Washington D.C., Chicago’s Civic Orchestra, Lakeview Symphony and the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras. Henry has been honored with multiple regional, national and international prizes, including First Prizes at the 2022 ‘The President’s Own’ United States Marine Band Concerto Competition, 2022 New York International Artists Association Competition, Lakeview Symphony Young Artist, 2022 & 2018 Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competitions, Enkor International, and second prize at the 2020 Arthur Grumiaux International Competition in Belgium. 

Furthermore, he was a 2023 National YoungArts Foundation winner in Classical Music. Henry was also the state winner of the Illinois Music Teachers National Association (MTNA); twice the regional winner of MTNA East Central region, and twice the National finalist of MTNA. In 2023, Henry was also a finalist playing the Tchaikovsky violin concerto at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Crain-Maling Foundation Young Artists competition. Currently, Henry is the Concertmaster of the CYSO’s Chamber Orchestra and its flag-ship orchestra (Symphony Orchestra), a role he has occupied for several seasons. He recently performed extensive Concertmaster solos in Strauss’ Ein Heldenleben during their November 2022 concert. 

Besides orchestral and solo playing, Henry is also a passionate chamber musician; he is part of the Plymouth Quartet and University of Chicago Laboratory School’s Beethoven/ Brahms/ Dvorak Trios. Henry has performed in many prestigious venues, such as the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, Chicago Cultural Center, Chicago Symphony Center, Logan Center and Carnegie Hall. In addition, he has been invited to perform the national anthem solo numerous times with the NBA Chicago Bulls at the United Center in front of 20,000 fans. Henry is a student of Frank Almond, and his chamber coaches include Lawrence Newman and Hsing-Huei Huang. In the past few summers, he attended several prestigious summer festivals with merit scholarships, such as Morningside Music Bridge and Tanglewood Music Festival and he was accepted to the Perlman Music Program and 2023 NYO-USA.  He has participated in masterclass with Paul Huang, Noah Bendix-Bagley, Peter Zazofsky, Nikki Chooi and more.

Born in 2014, Ivy started learning the violin with Mrs. Tunde Gaal at the age of 5. She won lots of first prize in 10-year and under group from 2020 to 2023. She enjoys watching classic music. And she cannot stop playing violin once she finds her favorite part. Besides violin, she has lots of energy to play soccer, lacrosse and tennis.

Sarah Son | 2nd Prize | Violin | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Violinist Sarah Son, age 16, is a junior at Davis Senior High School and a Pre-College student at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music under the instruction of Elbert Tsai. Sarah currently plays in the first violin section of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra and was selected to be a violinist for Carnegie Hall’s 2023 National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America.

Sarah made her soloist debut in 2022, performing Vieuxtemps Violin Concerto No. 5 with the Sacramento Youth Symphony Premier Orchestra after winning the orchestra’s concerto competition. Sarah was a featured soloist again in February 2023 at the Solano Symphony Salute to Youth Concert as the first prize winner of the Solano Symphony’s Young Artists Competition. She is also the winner of the 2023 DHS Concerto Competition and performed the first movement of the Beethoven Violin Concerto in D Major with the DHS Symphony Orchestra at Wennberg Orchestra Festival at the Mondavi Center. 

Sarah won first place awards at the 2022 Auburn Symphony Young Artist Competition, 2020 CalASTA Sacramento Solo Competition Junior Division, 2020 & 2016 MTAC VOCE regional competition, 2018 CAPMT Go for the Gold Music Competition, and 2016 Crescendo International Music Competition, and second place awards at the 2023 Burlingame Music Club String Competition, 2022 ENKOR Int’l Music Competition and 2019 Classical Masters Music Competition. She also received Honorable Mention at the 2023 KAMSA Music Competition and 2022 Burlingame Music Club Competition. In appreciation of Johann Sebastian Bach’s music, Sarah has been invited to perform unaccompanied solo violin pieces at the Junior Bach Festival in Berkeley every March since 2021. 

This year, Sarah was chosen to be concertmaster of 2023 CASMEC All-State High School Symphony Orchestra. In the past seasons, Sarah also served as concertmaster of the 2021 CODA High School Honor Orchestra, 2021 KAMSA Youth Orchestra, and 2020-2021 Sacramento Youth Symphony Premier Orchestra just to name a few.

An avid chamber musician, Sarah has been playing in various piano trios, string quartets, and piano quintets within the DHS Symphony Orchestra, SFCM Pre-College and the VITA Academy’s Great Composers Series Rising Stars Program. She also plays solo violin and chamber music for local seniors and hospital patients through the organization Lifting Spirits with Music. Sarah is currently the Regional Director of the Back to Bach Project in the Davis, CA region, which aims to educate young children about classical music through presentations, performances, and educational videos. 

In past summers, Sarah has attended the 2022 Music@Menlo Koret Young Performers Program, 2021 Boston University Tanglewood Institute Violin Workshop, and 2021 Orford Musique Academy in the studio of Lucie Robert. In July 2023, she will take part in NYO-USA’s eight-city tour of North America under the baton of Sir Andrew Davis with renowned soloists Gil Shaham and Hilary Hahn.

John Kim | 2nd Prize | Violin | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


John Kim, 17-year-old violinist, was recently selected as the 2023 National YoungArts Winner in Classical Music/Violin. He was also the winner and scholarship recipient of the 2022 Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS) Online Solo and Ensemble Festival. John has received first prize in the 2022 Radda Rise International String Competition and second prize in the 2022 American Virtuoso International Music Competition. In 2021, he received the Gold Prize and the Fantastic Technique Special Prize in the London Young Musician International Music Competition Series. John was also recognized as a young artist through various prestigious competitions in Korea, winning 1st prize in the Korea Music Education News Competition and 3rd prize in the Nanpa National Music Competition.


Furthermore, John was invited as a full scholarship student for Morningside Music Bridge 2023, as well as being given scholarships from Boston University Tanglewood Institute 2021 and 2022. Throughout three summers, John has participated in masterclasses with internationally acclaimed violinists and professors: Noah Bendix-Balgley, Ronald Copes, William van der Sloot, Daniel Stabrawa, Lucia Lin, Alexander Velinzon, and Peter Zazofsky. John has also had the opportunity to study with Midori, Mauricio Fuks, Nikki Chooi, Timothy Chooi, Mimi Zweig, Agata Szymczewska, Tadeusz Gadzina, Mateusz Makuch, Shanshan Yao, Klaudia Szlachta, Miguel Pérez-Espejo Cardenas, Hsin-Lin Tsai, and Ani Kavafian.  


As an active soloist, John has performed in various renowned venues including the Carnegie Hall Weill Recital Hall in 2023. In April of 2022, John made a successful solo debut, performing the entire Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with Yongin Philharmonic Orchestra at the Seongnam Arts Center Concert Hall. Recently, he was honorably selected to perform twice at the New England Conservatory Jordan Hall, playing both as a soloist and also a chamber musician in the Highlights Concert of Morningside Music Bridge 2023. 


John began studying the violin at the age of 4 at the Peabody Conservatory Preparatory of Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, which is his hometown. After moving to South Korea, John continued to pursue his passion for music at the Daejeon Arts Center’s Music Academy for the musically gifted and the Seoul Baroque Academy. Currently, he is a student at the Seoul Central Conservatory under the instruction of Professor Jinjoo Jeon. Additionally, John attends Seoul International School, where he is currently the concertmaster of the SIS High School Orchestra and High School Strings Ensemble.

Tristan Zhu is a scholarship fellow at the Academy of the Music Institute of Chicago, a training center for advanced pre-college musicians, where he studies with Almita Vamos and Davis King. He began studying violin at age 5, his previous teachers include Aurelien Pederzoli and Timothy Hager. 

A member of the 2023 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition Silver Medalist Pelios String Quartet, who also competed and won both the Gold Medal and Best Haydn Performance at 2023 Saint Paul String Quartet Junior Competition.

In 2023, Tristan was awarded the winner of the DePaul Concerto Festival for violin. He was also the First Prize Winner of DuPage Symphony Orchestra Young Artists Auditions, and winner of West Suburb Symphony Solo Competition in the same year. In addition, he was the gold medalist of the International Young Gifted Musicians Festival; and 3rd place winner of Fox Valley Concerto Competition. He has also received awards at Petrichor International Music Competition, the American Protege International Piano & String Competition, VIII Odin International Music Online Competition, International Music Competition “London” Grand Prize Virtuoso and in the Music Performance category of the 2021-2022 Discover FAA High School Talent Competition by University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

He has made numerous solo orchestral performances with the Oistrakh Symphony Orchestra, Fox Valley symphony orchestra, DuPage symphony Orchestra, West Suburban Symphony, and the Chicago Arts Orchestra 

Tristan has participated in masterclasses and guest coachings with Ani Kavafian, Rachel Barton Pine, Kirill Troussov, David Taylor, the Cuarteto Latinomericano. Summer activities include studying with Sergiu Schwartz at the Bowdoin International Music Festival, attending the Montecito International Music Festival, and the International Academy of Music.

An avid chamber musician, Tristan regularly and actively participates in various chamber groups. As a violist in the Pelios String Quartet, they won Silver medal at  2023 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and Gold Medal at the 2023 Saint Paul String Quartet Junior Competition, as well as Best Haydn Performance. The Pelios String Quartet was also awarded Second Prize at the 2023 Barnett Chamber Competition. His previous chamber music activities include receiving the Luke Piercy Young Artist Scholarship in 2021; advancing to the Quarterfinals of the 2021 Fischoff National Chamber Competition, and being aired on WFMT “Introductions”. With his groups, Tristan has performed at many community outreach events, including the Jay Pritzker Pavilion for the Grant Park Music Festival, and the Next! Music program at the Chicago Philharmonic. 

As an orchestral musician, Tristan performs with the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy Orchestra and Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra’s Symphony Orchestra, with which had a successful European performance tour in the summer of 2022. 

Other musical interests include studying viola and composing music. Tristan is also a varsity runner, and has a curious mind for physics and sciences.

Sydney Li-Jenkins | 2nd Prize | Violin | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


Sydney began playing violin when she was 3 with Heather Powell. She currently studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music with Elbert Tsai. Sydney has won numerous awards in various competitions including Pacific Music Society (2021, 2023), Korean-American Music Supporter’s Association (2022, 2023), Marin Music Chest (2021, 2022) including the Robert Greenwood Award for Outstanding Performance, Junior Bach Festival (2022, 2023), International Youth Music Competition (Absolute Winner, Artist of the Year 2022), and being selected as a finalist at the Palo Alto Philharmonic Concerto Competition (2023). Sydney is the Co-Concertmaster of the Marin Symphony Youth Orchestra. She has performed in master classes for acclaimed violinists and pedagogues Danielle Belen, Jessie Montgomery, and Simone Porter. Sydney is a 7th grader at the Chinese American International School in San Francisco. Besides music, she enjoys expressing herself creatively in other art media including singing, dancing, acting, and drawing.

Violinist Shiyu Zhang has been honing her craft since she was 5 years old and was inspired to start learning the violin after she saw Anne Sophie Mutters perform at the Grand Theatre in China. In 2018, Shiyu was admitted to the Central Conservatory of Music’s Primary School in Beijing of china. She currently studies at the Central Conservatory of  Music’s Middle School under the tutelage of professor Tang Weijan Central conservatory of Music. 

In 2021, Shiyu Zhang won the first prize in the Bellagrande international  Music Competition and second prize in 14th concorso international Music Competition.

In 2022, Shiyu Zhang won the first prize in VI Geneva International Music Competition and   Val Tidone Young Talent Competition . Besides She won the second prize in Polish String competition Online 1st Edition-String 

In 2023, Shiyu Zhang  won the first prize in XIV Savshinsky International Music Competition and Beethoven Concours Nederland - Junior (8-15 years) – Violin.

  Aiden Yu is 14 years old and resides in Chicago, USA.  He is currently studying with Davis King from the Music Institute of Chicago. 

     Aiden started violin at three years old and joined Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra at six years old.   He has won all three concerto competitions of CYSO by 14 years old.  He is currently the first chair of Violin II of Symphony Orchestras and sat Concertmaster of all previous five orchestras.  

     He is one of the four finalists of 2023 Crain-Maling Foundation CSO Young Artist Competition, and 

won first place in numerous violin competitions, including the 2022 Tokyo International Music Competition, the 2022 Charleston Contemporary Competition, the 2022 Concorso International “Citta di Villafranca VR”, the 2022 Quebec Competition, the 2022 Mimas Festival, the 2022 & 2020 Society of American Musicians Competitions (Intermediate & Junior Divisions), the 2021 Vivo International Competition, 2021 & 2019 Cremona International Competition for Strings (Intermediate & Junior Divisions), the 2021 Houston International Competition, the 2023 & 2020 DePaul Concerto Competition, the 2019 Music Competition in Honor of Confucius, and the 2019 International Brussels Grand Prize Virtuoso. He is also a laureate of the Enkor competition, Walgreens Concerto Competition, the Sejong competition and Singapore International Competition.

      Aiden made his first orchestral debut at age of 11 with the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago. He has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, Museo del Violino in Cremona, Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels and Sala Alida Ferrarini in Villafranca, Italy.

Ella Jeon | 3rd Prize | Violin | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Ella Jeon, born in California, is a sophomore at Amador Valley High School and has been playing the violin since the age of eight, currently studying under the tutelage of Mrs. Ju-yi Peng. 

Before joining San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra in the year of 2021, Ella played at the Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra for two years and worked with the Korean-American Music Supporters' Association (KAMSA) orchestra in the years 2019 and 2021. Additionally, she participated as Violin 1 for California All-State Orchestra in 2020, 2021, and 2023. 

She is currently the concertmaster in the Amador Valley High School’s Symphony Orchestra in 2023. She was awarded concert performance in the Junior Bach Festival of 2021 and 2022 and placed first in the US International Open Music Competition in 2021 and 2023  as well as the Pelican International Competition in 2021.  

Ella made her solo debut at Carnegie Hall at the age of fifteen in 2023 after placing 2nd Place in the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition in 2022. Ella won 2nd place in age group IV at the Great Composer Competition: Best Bach Performance (6th Edition, 2022). In 2022, Ella won 2nd place at Youth Excellence in Arts (YEA!) Award.

Outside her musical journey, Ella enjoys running, learning languages, and journaling.

Joshua Cisneros | 3rd Prize | Violin | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition

 


Violinist Joshua Cisneros, 17, is a home-schooled junior. He started playing violin at the age of 5 and has been the Concertmaster of the Peninsula Youth Orchestra for the last 2 years. He currently studies with Elbert Tsai. He won Grand Place at the Silicon Valley Music Competition, and 2nd places at the USOMC Senior division, Peninsula Symphony Competition, and the KAMSA competition in 2023. In previous years, Joshua has won 1st place at the International Youth Music Competition, USOMC, and Silicon Valley Competition in 2022. He also received awards from the Junior Bach Festival, and ENKOR, among others. Joshua performed the Prokofiev Violin Concerto No.1 with the Peninsula Youth Orchestra as their competition winner in March, and with the New Millennium Chamber Orchestra in February 2023. He most  recently attended Boston University Tanglewood Institute in 2022, and has received masterclasses from Midori, Richard Lin, Vadim Gluzman, and the late Jorja Fleezanis. Joshua actively performed in two charity concerts in 2022. He is also a co-Regional Director in the Back to Bach program with the Pueri Quartet, inspiring the younger generation to value classical music. Most of all, he enjoys gratefully sharing music at his church. Joshua will be attending the Center Stage String program in summer 2023. Joshua has been a part of the Pueri String Quartet in the Young Chamber Musicians program since 2021. The Pueri Quartet held a charity concert for the Turkey/Syria earthquake victims on March 19, 2023.

 Klaudia Kowalewski is an American violinist from Glen Gardner, NJ. She attends the Ridge High School in Basking Ridge. Klaudia studies violin with Tunde Gaal. She has been accepted to participate in regional and state orchestras in NJ and has been a member of New Jersey Youth Symphony. Klaudia is an avid reader, loves singing and biking.

Claire Choi is currently a freshman at Valley Christian High School and started playing violin in 2nd grade. She is a member of the California Youth Symphony’s Senior Orchestra, and is studying violin with Jiwon Evelyn Kwark. She has won awards in various music competitions such as USOMC, KAMSA and Silicon Valley Music Competition. Outside of violin, she enjoys doing art, piano and playing with her dog.

Sakurako Ando, age 14, has been playing the violin since she was 6, and currently studies with Elbert Tsai. She has been a member of Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra for 6 years, in which she won its concerto competition three times, and played solo twice with its orchestra. She served as the concertmaster of the Moreland Middle School Symphonic Orchestra, and received a “Carol Walter Memorial Award” from the school district. In addition, she participated Music Institute at Tateuchi 2020, 2021 and 2022, and was invited to perform at All State Junior High Orchestra 2023, and Junior Bach Festival 2021 and 2023. When not playing violin, she enjoys reading fictions, playing tennis and dancing jazz.

Katherine Jung, a 15-year-old violinist, currently studies at the Juilliard Pre-College program. She won first prize at New Jersey Music Teachers Association Young Musicians Competition, VIVO International Music Competition, and Prima Volta Music Competition. She performed as a soloist with the Little Orchestra Society in 2022. She is part of chamber groups at New York Youth Symphony (NYYS) chamber program. For summer music programs, she received merit-based scholarships to Heifetz International Music Institute in 2022and Meadowmount School of Music in 2023.

Sky Wen is a violinist at Colburn under the tutelage of Sam Fischer.  Sky has won numerous competitions and performed solo internationally, including the Lalo Symphonie Espagnole with an orchestra after winning First Prize in an international Music Organization New York Concerto competition and at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Salzburg Cathedral, Saint Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna, and Budapest.  

She has performed in masterclasses with Ray Chen, Augustin Hadelich, Rachel Barton Pine, Stefan Jackiw, Carolyn Widmann, and had studied under Elizabeth Faidley.  Sky was awarded The Judges' Distinction Award and 1st prize of American Protege International Competition, and Judge's Pick (perfect score) at VIVO International Music Competition. She also won Gold Medals at the American Association for Development of the Gifted and Talented (AADGT), Chicago International Music Competition, Elite International Music Competition, Great Composers International Competition, Manhattan International Competition, and East Coast International Competition, as well as top prizes at International Young Artist Competition, MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), and ENKOR Competition with judges from 73 countries.    

Sky is an avid reader, animal lover, and aspiring author.

Jeanne Park | 3rd Prize | Violin | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Pacific Northwest-born Jeanne Park (15, USA) has been a classically trained violinist since the age of four and a music composer since the age of ten. Jeanne has received top awards at many competitions, including being a three-time winner of the Simon -Fiset String Competition and a recipient of the Jean Kanter Memorial Trophy. She was a performer in the Japan Suzuki International Institute’s honors recitals, a merit scholarships recipient of Heifetz 2023 International Music Institute, Music Fest Perugia Italy and received recognition at the SYAMF. She has also performed in masterclasses with Mimi Zweig, Ann Setzer, Keng-Yuen Tseng, Brenda Brenner and Marilyn McDonald. 

Jeanne is also an internationally recognized composer, having placed at many composition competitions including the National NFMC Junior Composers Contest Nationals Incentive Award and National Honorable Mentions, 1st Place at the NFMC National Music Week Essay Contest, the National Guild of Piano Teachers International Composition Contest NGPT Award, was selected for the the Emerging Composers from the Tribeca New Music  2023 Young Composers Competition, the SMTA Marsha Wright Commissioned Award, and the WSMTA Young Composers Project. She participated in the Merriman-Ross Family Young Composers Workshop last year; her composition “ Storms in Spring” was premiered in Benaroya Hall by the Seattle Symphony, and her new symphony piece “Quokka” was premiered in May to celebrate their 30th year anniversary. 

Outside of composing, Jeanne enjoys playing ensemble music and reading books.

Unyew Kim | 3rd Prize | Violin | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Unyew Kim is a 3rd grade student at Challenger School in San Jose, CA. She has been a member of the California Youth Symphony since 2021. Unyew started studying violin at the age of four and currently continues her studies with Zhao Wei and Sunghee Park.

In 2021, Unyew won first place in the American Protégé competition which led her to perform at Carnegie Hall in 2022. She also qualified for the national competition after taking second place at the state level of the OPUS Music Competition. She went on to win first place at the Opus National Competition in 2022, as well as First prize in Global Genius Music Competition Spring Season 2022, 2022 New York International Classical Music Competition and the Great Composer Competition for the Best Hayden 2023 . Additionally, she won second prize in the North International Music Competition Fall 2021 and Spring 2022, and the San Francisco International Music Innovation Competition 2021.

Unyew is a member of Bridges in Music, an organization that shares music with senior communities, demonstrating her commitment to using music to bring joy and happiness to others.

Melody started her violin journey when she was 6 years old. She currently studies with Ms. Tunde Gaal. Melody loves violin and is always very passionate about music. Besides playing violin, she also enjoys reading, skiing, and spending time with her friends.

Liam Alexander | 3rd Prize | Violin | 10th Edition | ENKOR Int'l Music Competition


Nine-year-old violinist David Liam Alexander (USA/Romania) was born in U.S.A. and began learning the violin when he was 5 years old. He currently studies violin under Magdalena Ursu, a violin professor at the “Dinu Lipatti” National Arts High School in Bucharest, Romania.

At a young age, Liam is already an accomplished violinist with several international competition prizes. In 2023, he won 1st prize at 2023 Music Singapore International Piano & Violin Competition, S.E. Aphrodite Voice Cyprus International Music Competition, and at the Concursul Napocensis Music, Romania. In 2022, some of his recent awards include 1st place at the Chambana International Music Competition in Champaign, Illinois; 3rd prize at the Enkor International Violin Competition; the Gold Medal at the North American Virtuoso International Music competition (NAVI); 1st prize at the Muse International Music Competition (Greece); 1st prize at the Geneva International Competition - Melos (Switzerland); 1st prize in the Charleston International Music Competition; 3rd prize in the American Music Talent Competition in Washington D.C., and 1st prize of excellence at the International Competition Scherzo, Romania. In 2021, Liam won 3rd prize at the International Competition “Remember Enescu”; 1st prize in the Music Box International Online Contest; 1st prize at the “George Manoliu” Competition in Romania. Additionally, Liam was awarded several special prizes such as 1st prize and the prize for best interpretation of a Romanian work sponsored by the ‘Remember Enescu” Foundation at the 2021 “Paul Constantinescu” Competition in Romania. In 2020, Liam won 1st prize in the “Violin Doc” International Online Festival; 3rd prize and the special prize for the youngest violinist at the Online Prestissimo International Violin Competition; Special Prize for Virtuosity at the International Festival Rezonante Muzicale.

In summer 2022, Liam participated in the Harpa International Music Academy (HIMA) USA, an intensive summer music academy for strings and string chamber music on the Lake Erie shore in Northeast Ohio.

Besides violin, Liam loves to read, play the piano, draw, and spend time with his friends.

Wen Baixun learned the violin at the age of four and won the Silver Star Award in the Golden Beijing Violin Competition in August 2021. In 2022, he won the Gold Medal in Group D of the Philharmonic Orchestra and International Music Festival. In August 2022, he won the Golden Star Award in the Golden Beijing Violin Competition. Du Ruoheng, started learning the violin at a young age, won the gold medal in the first Henan Province Violin Competition in 2008. Admitted to the secondary school affiliated with the Central Conservatory of Music in 2014, entered the Central Conservatory of Music in 2018, and was admitted to the Master's program in 2022 as the top student in the major, now studying under Associate Professor Tan Liwei.

【Awards】:

2008: Gold medal in the first Henan Province Violin Competition;

2019: Special Gold Award in the first International Ensemble Competition in Singapore as part of an ensemble group;

2021: Third place in the first World Vision String Competition, China Region.

【Orchestra Experience】:

Joined the China Youth Symphony Orchestra in 2018 and performed with the orchestra on multiple occasions;

In December 2019, successfully performed Beethoven's "Symphony No. 6," Sibelius's "Finlandia," and Respighi's "Romanian Rhapsody" at Peking University's Centennial Lecture Hall, receiving unanimous praise;

In May 2021, participated in the recording of the special program "Struggling Youth - May Fourth Youth Day" at China Central Television with the orchestra;

In June 2021, participated in the college's "Salute to a Century, a Symphony of Achievements - Orchestra Department Celebrates the Centenary of the Founding of the Communist Party" concert, successfully performing "Ode to the Red Flag," "Youth Symphony," and other pieces;

In November 2022, participated in the Sino-German online exchange concert with the Central Conservatory of Music Symphony Orchestra and successfully recorded Beethoven's "Symphony No. 9," receiving unanimous praise.

【Artistic Practice Experience】:

Participated in numerous violin masterclasses, three chamber music masterclasses, two chamber music end-of-semester concert performances, and string music festival activities. Received guidance and unanimous praise from Qian Zhou, Hu Kun, Gong Hanxiang, Peter Schumayer (first violinist of the Vienna ""Artis"" Quartet), and Professor Li Weigang (first violinist of the Shanghai Quartet).

Yufei Cathy Chen, 15 years old, began her piano studies at the age of 4, she was admitted to the Juilliard School Pre-college in 2018. She studied under Professor Matti Raekallio, and later on with Dr. Yoheved Kaplinsky and Dr. Yiheng Yang. 

She has won many competitions such as Steinway & Son's piano competitions. She is also a Lang Lang Foundation Young Scholar 22-24.
